Alkermes, Inc.—Amylin worked with Alkermes to develop exenatide once weekly, a subcutaneous injection of exenatide for the treatment of type 2 diabetes based on Alkermes’ proprietary technology for long-acting medications. Amylin and Alkermes continue to develop potential long-acting formulations of exenatide. |
| Biocon, Limited—In September 2009, Amylin and Biocon entered into an exclusive agreement to jointly develop, commercialize and manufacture a novel peptide therapeutic for the potential treatment of diabetes. Amylin and Biocon will collaborate to develop the therapeutic potential of the compound and share development costs. Amylin will provide expertise in peptide hormone development as well as metabolic disease therapeutics. Biocon, a biologics innovator and world-class manufacturing expert, will utilize its expertise in recombinant microbial expression to manufacture the compound and also leverage its experience in pre-clinical and clinical development of diabetes products. |

| Eli Lilly and Company—Since 2002, Amylin and Lilly have collaborated on the development of exenatide. This collaboration has led to the successful commercialization of BYETTA (exenatide) injection, a medicine for type 2 diabetes that is the first and only FDA-approved GLP-1 agonist. Amylin and Lilly co-promote BYETTA in the US. BYETTA is available in many countries outside the US where Lilly is responsible for commercialization efforts. Amylin and Lilly are also developing long-acting release formulations such as exenatide once weekly and other product formulations. |

Psylin—Psylin Neurosciences, Inc. was formed in January 2007 as a virtual biotech company spun out of Amylin and PsychoGenics Inc. Under this new venture, Psylin will evaluate the potential of peptide hormones as novel therapeutic approaches to psychiatric disorders. Psylin will have access to molecules in Amylin's proprietary polypeptide hormone library, known as PHORMOL™, and to PsychoGenics' proprietary drug discovery technologies. The combination of Amylin's peptide expertise and its manufacturing and peptide delivery knowledge with PsychoGenics' expertise in preclinical neuropharmacology provide Psylin with a unique drug discovery resource. | Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited—In October 2009, Amylin and Takeda entered into a worldwide exclusive license, development and commercialization agreement to co-develop and commercialize pharmaceutical products for the treatment of obesity and related indications. The agreement includes products to be developed from Amylin’s pipeline, specifically pramlintide/metreleptin, and additional compounds from both companies’ obesity research programs. This collaboration allows both companies to leverage their expertise to more quickly bring promising new treatments to patients with obesity. |
