Pramlintide/ Metreleptin
In an Amylin study of obesity therapy candidates,
patients treated with a combination of pramlintide and
metreleptin reduced body weight on average by 12.7 percent
over 24 weeks. This represents an average loss of 25 pounds
of body weight and a 70 percent loss of excess body weight
from study start. In contrast, a recent paper published in
the Journal of the American Medical Association reported
a reduction of about 60 percent of excess body weight
at two years after laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding,
a surgical procedure.
Integrated Neurohormonal Therapy for Obesity (INTO) Program
Amylin is leveraging its science to continually advance diabetes care and to deliver new treatments for obesity and other diseases. A potentially transformational therapy in development is a unique combination of pramlintide and metreleptin, an output of Amylin's Integrated Neurohormonal Therapy for Obesity (INTO) program. The program is designed to harness the naturally occurring power of peptide and protein hormones and apply them in combination for improved patient outcomes in the struggle for weight loss.
