Frequently Asked Questions

How do I submit a grant request to the AGO?

The process for grant submission is described on the "Grant Process" page. Click here to review the process.

In which therapeutic classes does the AGO accept grant requests?

The AGO currently reviews grant proposals in the diabetes therapeutic area. AGO occasionally reviews educational grants in other related metabolic areas like Obesity and Lipodystrophy. In diabetes, prioritization will be given to healthcare professional educational activities focused on the role of amylinomimetics and GLP-1 receptor agonists, and the prevention of long term complications of diabetes. Only limited funding is available for other metabolic education.

Does previous support of a program indicate likely support of future grants?

No, each grant request is evaluated on its individual merit relative to other similar grant requests and available budget.

Can my Amylin contact help me get my grant request approved?

If the grant is for CME/CE or other independent medical education, your Amylin contact cannot help you get your grant approved. If the request is for a philanthropic purpose, your Amylin contact may provide help subject to committee review.

Is there a way to track the progress of my grant Request?

You may track the progress of your grant through your registration site for all the grant requests you have outstanding. You will receive a direct communication from the AGO immediately following a decision.

How will I know if my grant is approved?

Please do not consider any request approved until you have received written documentation from the AGO approving your grant request.

If approved, will Amylin publicly disclose the details of my grant request?

Beginning in January, 2009, Amylin will publicly post its accumulative grant funding on a quarterly basis. The first quarterly report is to be posted prior to May 30, 2009 and will include the following information:

Name of the Organization
Purpose of the funding

Subsequent reports will follow within 60 days of the close of the quarter.
